Ms. Weehler was one of the original teachers in the Spitzer Space Telescope Research Program for Teachers and Students.
Ms. Weehler writes:
I retired and moved to New Mexico. I still get to use my teaching skills working on environmental issues and it's fun!
Cindy writes:
I just gave an all day workshop on teaching astronomy in 8th grade at the Texas Regional Collaborative to about 25 teachers. It was fun, and I explained that my opportunities with RBSE and Spitzer allowed me to 1) get a better feel for how research is really done, and 2) really understand how astronomers use the tools of spectroscopy and H-R diagrams to study such distant objects.
The NITARP class of 2011 all submitted research proposals. Several NITARP alumni helped review proposals from the NITARP 2011 teams. (A BIG thank you to Dr. Geoff Bryden, who has volunteered to chair this committee.)
Babs Sepulveda and Cynthia Weehler presented two workshops at CAST (Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching) in Houston, Texas.
Ms. Wheeler has been working hard to get an Astronomy class, Science Research and Design course, or anything that will allow her to include students in the Spitzer research.
