Mr. McDonald was one of the last teachers in the Spitzer Space Telescope Research Program for Teachers and Students.
All four main NITARP 2013 teams submitted research proposals. Several NITARP alumni helped review them.

Mr. McDonald recently conducted a workshop with about 15 teachers. He also worked with their elementary school for an "astronomy month" and incorporated Spitzer into that process, spreading the word to about 4 teachers and about 80 students.
Mr. McDonald's physics students are working on learning how to use the Spitzer computer project. One student from this last summer Spitzer's training is working on data analysis.
Mr. McDonald visited the SSC in June along with three students to work on the Lynds Dark Nebula program. He worked on worked on being able to use Spitzer data on PC computers and plans to have a group of students work on using the Spitzer data to do science research. Mr. McDonald also plans to present a workshop at the AAPT meeting in Feb 2009.
