Ms. Barge writes that she has continued an extra-curricular student research group the years after NITARP, for two years now. Both years, students have gone or are planning to this year to go to AAS. At least four students, possibly 6, students have decided on physics/astronomy as their major in college because of their involvement in NITARP or the research groups following her experience with NITARP. Her department is now considering an astronomy class for next year.
This last summer she had a summer workshop at University of Chicago and they used NITARP as a template for student research and poster presentations. They had over 25 students and about 10 teachers participte.
