Ms. Novatne will be presenting an overview of her NITARP experience, as well as putting recruitment efforts forth to the local high school teachers, at Reedley College's STEM conference on April 27th. They have a very good relationship with our local high schools, and some of these teachers are very motivated, talented teachers who she thinks will be interested in participating in NITARP.
She also writes:
Yesterday, there were folks from a bay area community college visiting, to see how it is that we do our STEM ambassadors' program. We do very well with it, and at the national STEM conference, we presented an overview of how successful it is, which is what motivated the visit yesterday. STEM ambassadors are the college students who go out to the local elementary and middle schools with a science show to let the kids know about what is possible if they study science. I took the opportunity to give visiting colleagues a copy of the poster (11 X17 copy) to take back to their physics/astronomy folks. I was told that their p/a folks would likely be contacting me about it, as they're keen on this type of opportunity. I'll keep at the recruitment - I really feel that NITARP is a gem of a program.
