Cold Spotz: Using the submillimeter wavelength all-sky map generated by the Planck satellite to classify 4000 previously unidentified radio sources into the following categories: extragalactic radio sources, star-forming galaxies, stars within a dust shell, cold stellar cores, or asteroids.

    To me what stood out [at my first AAS] was the wide variety of work – from characterization of the structure of the Milky Way (more of a challenge than I ever knew!) to the search for and characterization of exoplanets to the understanding of how quasar evolution relates to the origins of the Universe.

    My general impression is how big and varied the whole conference was. I knew the number coming in—but sometimes our imagination fails us. To see all the posters, papers, booths, and talks was truly astonishing.
