In 2017, I participated in the NITARP program. Students are still amazed when I can point to pictures of the Perseverance rover being constructed in JPL's clean room when we toured the facility. This program had everything a science teacher is looking for - a chance to stretch your skills, involve your students, and attend a world class astronomy conference. I'm pretty sure that at least part of the reason I was accepted into NASA/SETI's AAA program this year was because of this experience - the next place I'm doing infrared astronomy is this summer on Mauna Kea!
