I am the Education Specialist for Rubin Observatory. I lead the team that designs classroom investigations and offers teacher training on lessons that focus on topics commonly taught in an introductory astronomy class or unit. All of our free investigations make use of authentic data, require no specialized software or training, and are designed to support the Next Generation Science Standards. The impact of NITARP did not end with the conclusion of our research study. NITARP has provided a network of dedicated educators that I have interacted with over the many subsequent years. My student’s experience of doing research had significant impact on him and provided opportunities from the time he started college to getting some of his first jobs.
