April 2018 updates for Ms. Herrold

Published: May 3, 2018

Ms. Herrold writes:

I joined the Education and Public Outreach Team of the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) full time in July 2017. My official title is Education Specialist.  I am in charge of developing the education materials that will be available to high school and college instructors and students. All of our investigations will make use of Jupyter notebook technology which will enable users to query and analyze large amounts of LSST data via only a website - no specialized software to install, no bandwidth or firewall issues. I can't wait to make these available to the NITARP community for education and research purposes! The telescope will have first light in 2022.

A NITARP pause: we are not expecting to be able to support a NITARP 2026 class as a result of the current funding uncertainty. We hope to resume in 2027.
