Mr. Schaefers and students are working with Leslies cubes, infrared thermometers, a heat detecting Pasco device, and doing 2-D constellation research. They are also doing a lab activity with revolving stars- red vs blue / time of revolution, brightness using the same heat detecting Pasco device. In addition they are working on a SOHO sun spot activity, jewels in the night- color wavelength activity. Also they will be discussing galaxies soon. Recent planet discoveries also tied in with these activities.
Mr. Schaefers was selected to participate in a meeting on October 7-11, 2009 aimed at establishing achievement level cut scores on the 2009 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in science. This is a critical step in establishing the Nation's Report Card in science. He has also been selected as one of the participants invited to attend the 2009 Physics Teachers Workshop July 12-17, 2009 in Idaho Falls.
