April 2018 updates for Ms. Stalnaker

Published: May 3, 2018

Ms. Stalnaker writes:

NITARP has transformed my life and the way I teach, so it's difficult to find anything that has NOT been influenced by this experience! Here are a couple of recent items:

I talked to the University of Texas EXES Astronomy Group in Austin, Texas on April 14th. I shared my NITARP experience and the challenge of juggling time for research and teaching. I also presented our research project, Identifying Young Stars In Cepheus C, using our science poster. I discussed our continuing alumni project to further analyze Herschel Space Telescope data by using point source function fitting.

My 8th grade STEM class at Lake Dallas Middle School did a Google Hangout with Dr. Luisa Rebull in March, STEM students listened to Dr. Rebull talk about astrophysics, and education, and then answered questions. Over 60 students participated, many more than the 15 students enrolled in the STEM course. Students were very enthusiastic and talked about the Hangout for days.

We're back from the Jan 2024 AAS and we had a grand time!
